Buckingham Palace declared on Monday that King Charles has been diagnosed with a type of cancer and has started a course of treatment.
“An additional matter of concern was identified during The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostatic enlargement. A type of cancer has been identified through additional diagnostic testing, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.
The nature of the cancer is unknown, but a statement from the palace stated that the King started “regular treatments” on Monday.
“Today, His Majesty began a regimen of routine medical treatments. Physicians have advised him to delay engagements with the public during this time. His Majesty will carry out routine State business and paperwork during this time, according to the statement.
The King is “appreciative of his medical team for their prompt intervention, which was made possible by his recent hospital procedure,” the statement continued. He is still entirely satisfied with his care and eager to get back to doing his official duties as soon as possible.
