Forest department: No palm trees may be cut down in Odisha without permission.

Before felling palm trees, give it some thought. Even in your own backyard, chopping down a palm tree puts you at risk of legal action.

The Odisha Forest Department must grant permission before cutting Pam trees.

According to reports, the Forest Department made this decision in response to the rising number of lightning-related fatalities in Odisha.

Because palm trees were exempt from regulations, there was widespread felling of these trees. The department has chosen to remove the exemption and plant 19 lakh palm trees this year since the disappearance of palm trees is directly related to an increase in lightning strikes in the state. In 52 divisions, four trees will be planted on each of the four sides of the pillar marking the border of each forest block. The SRC will use Rs 7.5 crore for this.
