On Tuesday, demolition work was done at the government quarters of former BJD MLA and party organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das in Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, Das, a prominent figure in BJD, built a four-story building at his official residence, which includes an underground floor. The demolition work involved over twenty labourers who locked the quarters from the outside, preventing anyone from entering.
Das was given government quarters, and according to official records, renovations cost Rs 9 lakh. On the other hand, it is alleged that the interior design and renovation of the quarter cost over Rs 9 crore. Das is accused of converting three quarters into one by using them unlawfully.
Demolition began as soon as the BJP formed the government and the process of turning over the government buildings began.
According to the allegations, Das was living a lavish lifestyle on the first floor of the building while BJD meetings were taking place on the first floor during the election. Similarly, the building’s third floor housed the party’s various belongings.
In the meantime, BJD’s organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das refuted the accusations, stating that government quarters are returned in the same state that they were given.
Since I was the party’s organisational secretary, a lot of our leaders and employees came to see me. Thus, a temporary addition to the official residence was constructed to accommodate them; it is currently being removed, Das added.
