The number of deaths from Brazil’s weather disaster has risen to 166.

Since April 29, the number of people killed by storms and flooding in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, has increased to 166, according to the Civil Defence agency.

Over 637,000 people have been evacuated, 61 are still unaccounted for, and approximately 2.3 million people in 469 municipalities have been impacted, according to the agency.

According to the Xinhua news agency, it further stated that the state has lost millions of dollars in trade, industry, and agribusiness.

Rio Grande do Sul has been experiencing rains since April 29, which has damaged the state’s roads and disrupted traffic. The situation had cleared up in the state capital of Porto Alegre on Monday, but fresh rains that started on Thursday have resulted in more flooding.
