In Bihar, NDA finalises seat-sharing; BJP will run for 17 seats, JD(U) for 16.

The seat-sharing agreement between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and its constituents, the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP-Ramvilas), was finalised on Monday.

In Bihar, the BJP is playing the role of the “big brother” by running candidates for the most seats (17). The other allies, JD (U), LJP, HAM, and RLSP, are running candidates for 16, 5, and 1 seats, respectively.

When the BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde announced the NDA’s plan to share seats in Bihar, he expressed confidence that the alliance led by the BJP would win 40 out of 40 seats and sweep the state.

Along with Uttar Pradesh and Bengal, Bihar is one of the three states where polls will be held during all seven election phases.

The Election Commission’s schedule lists April 19, 26, May 7, 13, 20, 25, and June 1 as the dates for voting in Bihar.

Speaking to the media, BJP leader Bihar’s deputy chief minister Samrat Chowdhary declared that the NDA alliance would win all 40 seats in Bihar and that the Narendra Modi administration would return to power in 2024 with a resounding mandate.
