After being seriously hurt in a traffic accident, former BJD MP Prasanna Acharya will be airlifted to Bhubaneswar.

Former BJD MP Prasanna Acharya was critically injured on Friday following a late-night collision between his vehicle and an oxygen-laden tanker near Beladihi in Sambalpur’s Rairakhol.

The former MP’s condition was listed as critical when he was first brought into the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Sambalpur. He will, however, be flown later today to a Bhubaneswar private hospital.

Acharya’s vehicle is said to have collided head-on with a petrol tanker late last night on the NH 55, Sambalpur-Rairakhol road.

The former Rajya Sabha MP’s PSO is reportedly also critical, and the car’s driver only suffered minor injuries in the collision.

“The road had two lanes. We were driving in the vicinity of Luhapank when a truck struck our car at about 70–80 kmph. Prasanna Acharya was seriously hurt, and I broke my hip. In the collision, our driver also suffered some injuries. Fortunately, everyone in the area assisted us in travelling to the hospital “PSO Raghav Pradhan of the Acharya said.

Acharya was admitted to the hospital, and Dr. Sirshak Ghose, the superintendent, stated, “The patient is stable now.” He was involved in a car accident last night. Doctors that specialise in neurosurgery, general surgery, and orthopaedics are treating him.”

“It depends on the doctors’ advice,” responded Northern Range RDC Shrikant Prusty when asked about the airlift. We’ve also had conversations with his physicians and relatives. His family is insisting on moving him to a Bhubaneswar hospital because they are staying in the city. He will soon be airlifted to Bhubaneswar.”
