On Friday, Santrupt Misra, who had recently resigned early from her roles as Group Director of Birla Carbon, Director of Chemicals, and Global Director of Human Resources, joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
After meeting Chief Minister and party leader Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas, Misra officially joined the Conch party.
Misra gave a speech at the event and stated, “I always thought that one day I would go back to Odisha and work for the people of the State.” The work Naveen Patnaik has done for Odisha over the years truly inspires me. I wish to give his hands, which have moulded the State in a spiritualist manner, strength. The launch of the SAMALEI project, Ekamra Kshetra, and Srimandir Parikrama Project are examples of this.
“CM Naveen Patnaik and senior BJD leaders are to be thanked. In order to serve the people of Odisha to the best of my abilities, I ask for the blessings of Lord Jagannath and all people,” Misra continued.
When asked about his alleged candidature for the Rajya Sabha, Misra said, “I recently met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and became a member of the party.” I will play whatever part that is required of me with diligence.
After working for almost thirty years at the Kumar Mangalam Birla-led aluminium to cement conglomerate, Misra left the corporate sector. As vice president of HR for Hindustan Unilever (HUL), he joined the company in 1996.
Misra was a director of chemicals at the Birla group and group director of Birla Carbon, making her one of the few HR directors in India Inc. who also oversaw several business units.
He graduated from Utkal University and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences with two postgraduate degrees, one in Political Science and the other in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations.
